Just MBA is enough for employment?


Throughout current times wherein B-school education is undergoing a significant change in India, over 3, 50, 000 AICTE (All The indian subcontinent Council for Technical Education ) authorized MBA seats have mushroomed inside India alone. While some may perceive it as being a positive move, the reality will be, the quality of education sold at a major chunk of these institutes have been mediocre, say experts.
So, usually are Indian MBA graduates truly employable? Prof. Rajiv Nited kingdom Sinha, professor of marketing and Lonnie Ostrom Chair running a business, WP Carrey School of Organization, Arizona State University feels until this depends on the school they graduate from.

"There are some B-schools in India that do an outstanding job of preparing their graduates, partly because they attract some of the best students in the country and partly a result of the presence of a well-trained college. It is estimated that 100, 000 learners graduate from private institutions every year. Unfortunately, their knowledge and qualifications cover anything from world-class to not-so-good, " he / she explains.
Similarly, Shantanu Dhar, asst executive director HR, Dalmia Bharat Class expresses, "There are some institutions where students emerge with a CEO mindset, wanting becoming a CEO without really being prepared to the grind. And there are many universities that present students that are unprepared for actuality. For all of the preceding, corporates invest on an normal, a year to groom these individuals accordingly. "

According to Sangeeta Pandey, overseer HR, Akzo Nobel India, "At occasions, the students are too theoretical inside their responses and lack practical acumen, which can hinder their growth in the real corporate world. The quality of students from Tier 3 and 4 campus leaves a good deal to be desired as they want more guidance and knowledge, equally at functional and behavioural ranges. However, what are the parameters as well as tools, which corporates can adopt to measure the quality and performance of MBA graduates? As outlined by Prof. Sinha, the most critical thing should be to look not only at graduates, but also the standard of the institution they are graduating from.

Pandey further shares, "Besides short-listing prospective candidates according to their profiles, we have a new battery of tools including group discussions, psychometric tools, BEIs and specific structured interviews that help us increase the process of selection. We also go through the cultural fit whilst making a final decision, so that the quality of selection can be as per our business needs/model. These tools do help in assessing the standard of an MBA degree. "
The quality of a significant chunk of MBA passouts could be doubtful to some extent, but with the various ways by which the good B-schools are adapting towards ever-changing corporate scenario, the potential certainly sees a light involving positive hope. And hopefully, it will have a balance between quality in addition to quantity.
